Electronic Poker is a beloved game that can be played in casinos around the world, or in your house on your PC, using a web connection. The regulations are very straightforward and consist of the player attempting to get the greatest combination of cards possible in order to come away with cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a regular game of poker, minus the interaction with any other players. Of course, methods employed during a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Video Poker begins when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and presses the play button. A hand of five cards will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and bettors should now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.

After the gambler has selected which cards he or she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards will be needed they will be handed out. The hand is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.

Typically, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that experienced bettors are agile enough to pick the most profitable ones each instance.

As soon as the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to remain on and try to to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Further, some versions of the game allow the bettor a chance to double their winnings, in which situation another game is played. There are also variations among specific machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying elements to enhance playability.
