Video Poker is a favored game that can be bet on in casinos across the world, or alternatively at home on your personal computer, using a net connection. The game rules are very straightforward and involve the player attempting to get the highest combination of cards as you can in order to win cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a classic game of poker, apart from the interaction with other players. The game of Video Poker starts when the enthusiast inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of 5 cards will be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.

The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and enthusiasts should now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.

After the gambler has decided on which cards he or she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be given out if desired. The hand is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.

Typically, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payment schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that discerning players are able to choose the most money-making game each instance.

As soon as the first round has completed, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that they may have won. Additionally, some versions of the game give the gambler a chance to double their wins, in which situation another hand is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
